What is ‘We call it Ballet’?
‘We call it Ballet’ breathes new life into Sleeping Beauty’s story of sleepy kingdoms, magical fairies and hidden castles. Iconic compositions guide the way, but it’s the raw talent of gracious ballerinas paired with the twinkling glimmer of the glow-in-the-dark costumes that steal the show. The stage is lit up by the ballerinas’ dazzling outfits, creating a unique dance experience that’s a feast for the eyes and ears. It’s an abridged edition of the original, focusing only on the best bits.
Ballet, its storytelling and the show
Composed in the late 1880s, Sleeping Beauty is one of Tchaikovsky’s most famous ballets. It officially debuted in 1890 inside the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and has dazzled audiences in cities all over the world ever since. Now, ‘We call it Ballet’ is bringing a luminous reimagining of the fairy tale to Miami.
As the story unfolds over the course of 60 minutes, the classical fuses with the contemporary to push the boundaries of ballet. The LED lights on the ballerinas change color depending on the mood and tone of each scene. What’s more, a narrator also guides audiences through the centuries-old story as it gets a dazzlingly colorful twist.
This magnificent tribute to a dazzling jewel in the crown of famous ballets is captivating Miami. While their LED-lit costumes light up Miami Theater Center in Miami Shores, ballerinas will be twisting and twirling to the eternal compositions of Sleeping Beauty. It’s truly a sight to behold, and you don’t want to miss out.
