If you’re as addicted to Cuban sandwiches as we are, we’ve got news for you. Vicky Bakery is offering the beloved sandwich for just $5 each!
It’s all in celebration of National Cuban Sandwich Day, which falls on Friday, August 23. It was first established in 2016 by Tampa Bay Times reporter, Christopher Spata, who set out to see if he could create a food holiday of his own. Since the date coincided with National Sponge Cake Day, which he found of lesser importance, he chose the Tampa-native (allegedly) sandwich. But despite its curious origins, the holiday is now recognized across the country.
Cuban sandwich lovers can take advantage of this deal only on Friday, August 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all Vicky Bakery locations. The delectable creation consists of savory roasted shredded pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard, all pressed to perfection in fresh Cuban bread. Like most recipes at the popular Miami bakery, this one has been cherished for over 50 years.
Since its beginnings in 1972, Vicky Bakery has opened more than 25 locations across Florida, including Bird Road, Doral, Hialeah, Homestead, Pembroke Pines, Miami Gardens, Coral Springs, Boca Raton and Orlando. They’re continuing to expand, with plans to open more pastry shops in Little River, Sunrise, Fort Myers, Port St. Lucie and more. You can find all of their locations here.
So head on over to a Vicky Bakery this Friday and raise a $5 sandwich in honor of the iconic holiday!
