Miami has a lot to offer and it’s now considered one of the top spots to visit around the globe! TIME Magazine recently named the city on their “World’s Greatest Places 2022” list. Of the 50 extraordinary destinations that made the cut, only five are in the United States.
What gives the Magic City such a high ranking? The “U.S.’s capital of cool,” as TIME puts it, hosted the Miami Grand Prix at the Hard Rock Stadium back in May which drew a spectacular and diverse amount of people “making the city feel, according to ESPN, like ‘the center of the sporting universe.’
Then the publication praises the Underline, the new outdoor park underneath the Metrorail tracks that aims to transform the land into a 10-mile multi-purpose pathway with green space and public art. With biking paths, open space for events like live music and yoga, exercise stations, and basketball and soccer courts, it is the city’s most ambitious public space transformation.
They also mention the recent bevy of luxurious hotels and restaurants like the “playful” Moxy Miami South Beach and the Art Deco Gabriel South Beach to the Uma House and the Esmé Hotel with its “village of bars and restaurants” for “visitors looking for posh playfulness.”
The other four U.S. cities that made the list were Detroit, Park City, Portland, and San Francisco. Other North American places included are Tofino in British Columbia, Toronto in Ontario, and Riviera Nayarit in Mexico.
TIME says it compiled the list by soliciting nominations from an “international network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences.”
