For 90 minutes, you’re captivated. Created by famed Australian magician Christopher Wayne, the experience pairs close-up magic with cocktails and the polished hospitality of Novotel Miami Brickell, giving the whole evening the feel of a proper night out rather than a standard stage show.

Novotel Miami Brickell: rooftop views, cocktails and a wilder side of the city

Novotel Miami Brickell brings a little rooftop calm to the middle of Brickell. At Vista Rooftop Bar & Lounge, cocktails, a signature menu and sweeping skyline views make a good case for arriving early. There’s also an infinity pool, though swimming requires a day pass. The hotel is close to Brickell’s Financial District and City Centre, yet just removed from the busiest blocks.

Across the street, Simpson Park offers a very different view of the neighbourhood. Its eight acres preserve one of the last surviving fragments of the historic Brickell Hammock, which once stretched along Biscayne Bay between the Miami River and Coconut Grove. In 1914, the City of Miami bought 4.4 acres from Mary Brickell for $12,500, paying in ten installments over ten years to help protect part of the landscape as the city grew.

Today, the park is recognised as a Natural Forest Community. Around 162 plant species have been recorded there, about 96 of them native, including endangered and threatened species. It’s a living remnant of the subtropical forest that once defined this part of Miami, tucked beneath the towers.

With Theater of Magic performances at 4:30pm and 7:30pm, it’s easy to build the outing around a walk through the park or a rooftop drink before the show.
