If you’re looking for a restaurant that’ll serve up a feast for both your eyes and your tastebuds, let us introduce you to the newest addition to Miami’s dining scene: The Mexican. Residing on Brickell Key, this contemporary Mexican eatery is as stunning as it is gastronomically ambitious!
The new opening marks a major expansion for the brand, following the success of its Dallas flagship. In 2023, The Mexican Dallas earned the prestigious Prix Versailles, naming it not only the best in North America but crowning it as one of the “World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants.”
Spanning more than 10,000 square feet with sweeping bay views, acclaimed architect Paulina Morán took the reins on giving the Miami outpost its Mexican art-driven design. She sourced much of the art, furniture and materials featured in the venue from owner Roberto González Alcalá’s hometown of Monterrey.

Upon entering, diners are welcomed into a curated tequila gallery lined with rare and collectible bottles. The dining room itself is a marvel, anchored by dramatic circular ceiling installations composed of layered wood slats, and framed by limestone archways. Geometric tile flooring offers a nod to classic Mexican patterns, while floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of Biscayne Bay and the Brickell skyline.

For those looking to enjoy their meal outdoors, the stunning atmosphere extends to a second waterfront bar, covered patio seating and a lower-level terrace that descends right toward the water’s edge.
A taste of Mexico in Brickell Key
While The Mexican’s look alone is worth the reservation, the menu takes center stage. Rooted in the culinary traditions of Northern Mexico, the kitchen is guided by heritage recipes through modern techniques and premium sourcing. Standouts include the Barbacoa de Arrachera (slow-cooked skirt steak), Ribeye Aguachile and Lobster Elote. The restaurant also features dishes exclusive to Miami like the flavorful Tuna Tomahawk.
Meanwhile, guests can sip on their cocktail selection, such as Mujeres Divinas (infused with hibiscus and damiana), La Niña Fresa (fruit-forward blend of strawberry and ginger) and elevated reserve margaritas like Zapata and Pancho Villa.
The Mexican is now open at 601 Brickell Key Drive, Suite 100. Visit their website for more information.
