It’s official! The world-famous Tartan Army are in town to bring the bagpipes and festive spirit ahead of Scotland’s World Cup match against Brazil at the Hard Rock Stadium.
The Scottish supporters are scheduled for multiple Miami celebrations this week, beginning with a pre-game march around loanDepot Park this Monday, June 22. Before the Marlins face off against the Texas Rangers, they’ll take to the streets surrounding the stadium at 4 p.m. in full Scottish regalia.
The march will begin along the corridor of SW 15th Ave between SW 8th St and SW 7th St, before heading northbound on SW 15th Ave and continuing to NW 2nd St. It will then proceed westbound on NW 2nd St to NW 16th Ave before arriving at the ballpark.
Just as the kilts clear out of Little Havana, the Scots will swing into South Beach on Tuesday, June 23. Beginning at 2 p.m., fans will assemble along 14th Street and Ocean Drive as they head south to 5th Street with their unmatched camaraderie.
As Commissioner Monica Matteo Salinas put it in a statement, “Their energy reflects exactly what makes our city such a vibrant destination — a place where cultures come together to celebrate, connect and create unforgettable moments against our legendary art deco backdrop.” Mayor Steven Meiner echoed the sentiment, welcoming the fans and noting that Miami Beach is sitting at the forefront of international culture.
Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to join in on the fun, though city officials are warning everyone to plan accordingly. Expect heavy foot traffic and public safety teams out in full force to keep the routes organized and safe.
