Miami’s art scene is reaching new heights! The newest residential tower to arrive in downtown Miami isn’t just adding to the skyline; it’s already breaking national records.
Located at 1550 NE Miami Place, the 24-story Excel Miami features what is now the tallest mural in the U.S. on its facade. The development by Clearline Real Estate boasts 427 units, ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments, and an amenity deck with a pool, co-working space, fitness center, event room and library, according to Shawmut Design and Construction.
But it’s the exterior that has everyone talking.
The four-panel installation by renowned German artist MadC (Claudia Walde) spans multiple sections, with its primary canvas rising an incredible 245 feet! This height dethrones the previous record-holder in Phoenix, which stands at 230 feet.

MadC has roots in the global graffiti scene and is known for transforming large-scale surfaces, bringing her signature vivid style to the mural.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava paid the mural a visit to take it the sights, stating, “I think it’s only fitting and proper we should have the tallest mural in America, because we are the greatest city in America.”
“I’m very proud of this beautiful installation that just speaks Miami, [it] even has an ‘M’ embedded,” she added.
