Breaking (good) news! Dos Hombres mezcal is coming to Sushi By Bou, the renowned sushi restaurant known for its speakeasy concept and timed omakase, in a big way.
The restaurant has only been open for about three months at the SLS in Brickell, but they’ve certainly made the most out of that time. They are joining forces with actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul of the hit series “Breaking Bad” to present a national partnership with the stars’ mezcal brand, Dos Hombres.
In case you didn’t know, the duo who played teacher-turned-methamphetamine mastermind Walter White and troublesome former student Jesse Pinkman, took their chemistry off-screen and launched their artisanal spirit brand in 2019 to much acclaim.
Following an appearance at Sushi By Bou last Friday, where the actors served up drinks and signed bottles for fans, the new collaboration will include the addition of Dos Hombres in the restaurant’s acclaimed cocktail program (which already features Heavensake and Beam Suntory). It will also bring a soon-to-be special cocktail-omakase tasting experience.
Over in New York, the restaurant plans to transform its Sushi Suite 1001 location inside Hotel 32|32 into a Dos Hombres Terrace, offering a new mezcal-driven cocktail tasting menu.
“We couldn’t be happier to have the award-winning mezcal brand on board,” said Michael Sinensky, co-founder of SimpleVenue, the hospitality group that owns Sushi by Bou. “Having Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston join us at Sushi by Bou Brickell was a fantastic way to kick off this collaboration. We are grateful for the opportunity to host them and look forward to what’s in store for this partnership.”
Friday’s meet-and-greet at the SLS launched the partnership, as Aaron and Bryan served up the mezcal and signed bottles for guests all throughout the night. They hopped behind the bar to guest-bartend and the Dos Hombres team enjoyed their omakase. Although the unexpected turnout at the restaurant caused a fish and rice shortage, leaving them vowing to return to other locations for round two.
Fans of the spirit, TV show and sushi can visit Sushi By Bou at 1300 S Miami Avenue. The 12-seat counter and lounge is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 5 p.m., with the last seating at 10 p.m. Its signature timed omakase experience (30-minute and 60-minute options) features the freshest of fish and reservations can be made on their website here.
