The seafood festival in Miami Beach has become a staple among seafood lovers all over the city, and it’s back for its 10th year anniversary. I mean, mouthwatering seafood meals right by the ocean? There simply isn’t a better duo.
Celebrate the region’s most delicious seafood as well as a handful of unique recipes prepared by local chefs of the finest restaurants throughout Miami on Wednesday, October 19 to Saturday, October 22 at this massive four-day culinary showcase.
The festival kicks off with the already-sold out “An Evening at Joe’s Stone Crab” at Miami Beach’s famed stone crab restaurant. But don’t worry about missing out on this specific experience because next up, there’s “Crabs, Slabs & Cabs,” which takes place the following evening, Oct.20, at the recently revamped Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel. It offers a formal five-course dinner highlighting ‘Surf n’ Turf’ reimagined by leading chefs in the Magic City alongside GOYA’s executive chef, Fernando Desa. Participating chefs include celebrated restaurateur José Mendín, Fiola Miami’s Danny Ganem, Meat Market’s Sean Brasel, The Social Club at Surfcomber’s Javier Carballo and Luca Osteria’s Giorgio Rapicavoli.
On Friday evening, Oct. 21, the gloves come off as 16 of Miami’s top chefs go head-to-head in eight competitive seafood rounds during the annual “Chef Showdown” in Lummus Park. In the audience, you’ll be the judge (and maybe you can pick up a few tricks of the trade to whip something up in your own home). For the first time ever, the chef with the most points of the night will take home a grand prize of $10K in honor of the festival’s 10 year anniversary.
And here comes the news you’re waiting for: The series of nightly events builds up to the main attraction – the festival itself. It’s an all-day Saturday affair that spans four blocks on the sands of South Beach. It will showcase a selection of pop-ups by prominent South Florida restaurants and complimentary open bar stations, meaning you’ll want to save some room so that you can have a little bit of everything.
Chow down on everything from stone crabs, lobster waffle cones, steak and lobster skewers, ceviche, oysters, shrimp tacos, shrimp cocktails and the rest of the ocean’s bounty! Then build an appetite by dancing to live music and partaking in interactive experience and beach games that the beachfront festival will have in store.
