Candlelight not only highlights the most talented musicians and string quartet performers, but also incredible locations — each as pleasantly unexpected as the next. For upcoming concerts in Fort Lauderdale, the concert series has made Savor Cinema its new home, bathing the historical venue in soothing candlelight and warm sounds.
Savor Cinema is one of the most influential movie theaters in Fort Lauderdale. Housed in a renovated church building dating from the mid 19th century, the building was renovated as a stage theater for use by Vinette Carroll, the first African-American woman to direct a Broadway show. The location was later baptized Cinema Paradiso before getting the name Savor Cinema in 2016.
The cinema is active in the community, particularly during the annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival where it highlights independent films and theater performances. This summer, it is home to some of Candlelight’s most spectacular performances.
On August 5, experience a tribute to Queen, Giacomo Puccini, and Mozart at Savor Cinema. Classics like Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You get a stunning remake, bathed in the gentle glow of Candlelight. August 20 brings musical soundtracks from your favorite movies, September 2 will be a tribute to Coldplay, on September 17, a tribute to ABBA will completely shake the table, and October 28 will bring a haunted evening of Halloween classics. You probably already know the tunes to all of these musical pieces, but Candlelight reimagines them in ways that will leave you in awe.
