Wynwood has a new wine bar and it’s the ideal spot for wine, cheese, live music, and good conversation! At the newest Ruka Winewood, you’ll want to snag seating in the garden to really feel like you’ve been whisked away from the city.
With all the greenery, partially covered awning and sparkling twinkle lights, it feels like a cozy backyard with a whimsically romantic atmosphere or simply the perfect spot to chill with friends.
Not to mention, many nights feature live music from chill acoustics to funky tunes so that you can get up and dance the night away.
Seating about 50 people in this intimate venue, Ruka specializes in small charcuterie plates and great quality wines from small producers. Just a few highlights from the menu include: the Wagyu Pastrami Sliders, their cheese selection curated by friend Cheesmonger Lee Salas Rossell, and home-made Focaccia.
For wines, the newcomers focus on natural wines and the kinds that you would not find at your grocery store. Their diversified wine list has options from Argentina, California, Italy, Spain, France and some new world from Slovenia and Moldavia. But you can expect others because their wine selection will constantly be changing.
Some recommendations include: “Proyecto La Compuertas from Valle de Uco (Uco Valley) in Mendoza, Argentina; “Krasno” orange wine from Slovenia; “Guimaro Mencia” from Ribeira Sacra, Spain; “Bloodrot” Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, California; and both the Barolo and the Brunello from Italy!
Founders and brothers Leandro Cabanillas and Nicolas Buompadre opened their first restaurant, Ruka Garden, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and having lived in West Palm Beach here in the U.S. for many years, chose Miami because they felt that the city could benefit from having a unique wine garden. The partners say they are on a constant search to understand the city, what locals like and how they like it.
Currently, they’re trying to bring cool activities to the bar, whether it’s gastro pop ups with other local operators, yoga while sipping on wine or ‘sip and paint’ type of events.
Ruka Winewood is located a 51 NE 24th Street and is open Wednesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. In the meantime, you can visit their Instagram for more information.
