There’s a new Publix in town, and while the arrival of a supermarket we all know and love normally wouldn’t make headlines, this one’s a game-changer. That’s because instead of your car, you can park your boat right outside before walking in and getting what you need!
After being in the works for years, with some outlets reporting on the plan as far back as 2018, the brand new Publix in Hollywood opened its doors earlier this month. Perfect for maritime lovers who might need to grab a few things for their day out at the sandbar, it’s already making waves.
What does this waterfront Publix feature?
Along with all the grocery staples you can expect from the store where, as they say, shopping is a pleasure, this Publix has a rather unique setup. At nearly 30,000 square feet, it spans three floors, with the first two serving as a parking garage. The third floor is where you can find all of your shopping needs in addition to a full-service bakery, deli and pharmacy, as well as a seating area.
However, it’s what’s outside that’s got everyone buzzing. There’s a dock with a ramp leading right to its entrance, perfect for shoppers who want to arrive by boat, park it and get down to shop. For those wanting to sit back, relax and snack on a Pub sub or chicken tenders, there’s also benches on the dock to soak in all the water views!
Is this the only waterfront Publix in South Florida?
As a matter of fact, no! The Publix at River Landing (1420 NW North River Dr.) is located right along the Miami River, boasting water views that you can also enjoy while having your favorite grab-and-go treat. There’s another Publix in Treasure Island (111 104th Ave.) with a boat dock that has since been damaged due to recent hurricanes. While boaters haven’t been able to dock there in a while, repairs are in the works.
Where can I find this new Publix?
The Hollywood Publix supermarket can be found at 3100 S. Ocean Drive, right along the Intracoastal Waterway. It opens from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. You can learn more about it on the Publix website.
