One thing we know about Florida is that its boasts some pretty top-tier schools, often nationally recognized for academics, research and affordability. Recently, one university in the state has been deemed one of Forbes’ ‘New Ivies,’ or institutions serving as an alternative to traditional Ivies like Harvard and Princeton.
For the third straight year, Forbes has compiled its list of 20 universities — 10 private and 10 public — outpacing traditional Ivy League schools in the eyes of hiring managers. This year’s list focuses on how well these schools are prepping their students for a job market that is rapidly being transformed by artificial intelligence.
Which Florida university is considered a New Ivy?
One of the 10 public universities featured on this year’s list is the University of Florida in Gainesville. As a highly competitive school, citing an acceptance rate of 24%, it remains one of the top educational institutions in the nation alongside a median SAT Score of 1400 and ACT score of 31. Fitting the theme of “embracing AI,” Forbes also notes that the University of Florida, Notre Dame and Emory have all hired upwards of 40 new staff focused on AI in recent years.
