With admirable museums, stunning beaches, a melting pot of cuisines and more, it’s no surprise so many people flock to our beautiful city. However, it could be overwhelmingly difficult to decide on which ones to check out. Luckily, you don’t need to look too far.
We took to Instagram and Facebook to ask our followers to pick out attractions that are worth the time, travel or money, and which ones are simply tourist traps. Although many so-called tourist traps are worth a visit just to say, “Been there, done that!” Here are trusty recommendations from those in Miami that know this city better than anyone else:
“Must-see” tourist attractions:
- Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
- Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
- Mary’s Cafe & Coin Laundry
- Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science
- Cafe La Trova
- Pérez Art Museum

- Coconut Grove (catch a Miami Symphony Orchestra show in Peacock Park)
- Venetian Pool
- Patch of Heaven Sanctuary

- Bonus: Publix 🤣
“Skip” these tourist attractions:

A few contenders had mixed reviews. Some Miamians voted Lincoln Road as a “must-see” attraction, while others said Ocean Drive and South Beach are worth skipping. Several South Beach spots, however, like South Pointe Park, Big Pink and Mango’s Tropical Cafe, were listed as quintessential visits. You’ll have to check them out for yourself and let us know what you think!
