It’s no secret that Miami is one of the hottest destinations for spending New Year’s Eve. With some of the best events to party your way into 2023 and a fair share of firework displays across the city skyline, it may even be the perfect place to spend the holiday. However, there’s just one issue: it can get pretty expensive.
A new study recently conducted by WalletHub confirms just that — Miami is the country’s second priciest New Year’s Eve destination.
The personal financial website assessed what it’s like to spend New Year’s Eve in the nation’s 100 largest cities. Using 29 different indicators, they took into account each city’s: 1) Entertainment & Food, 2) Costs and 3) Safety & Accessibility.
Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 being the “most favorable.” Miami placed 11th overall, with a total score of 63.79. Comparably, New York City, which topped the list at #1, had a 70.20 total score, followed by Orlando with 70.12 and Las Vegas with 70.09.
Yet, when it comes to cost, Miami didn’t fare so well with a ranking of almost last (or more expensive) at #99. This probably comes at no surprise to you, with Miami being one of the most popular tourist destinations and a center of luxury living.
At #100, only Irvine, CA ranked lower than Miami in the WalletHub rankings. Other cities rounding out the bottom five as most expensive are New York, Honolulu and New Orleans.
