The year 2022 was a pretty good one for Miami. The city made it on a ton of lists, from being named one of the world’s greatest places by TIME to being one of the best cities to reside in for creatives.
Things are already looking up for Miami in 2023, receiving an even bigger recognition as one of the “World’s Best Cities” for 2023 by international consultant group Resonance. The annual report ranked Miami at #52, which isn’t too shabby when you’re looking at 100 different cities all over the world!
Surely our crystalline, blue waters and wonderful beaches stand out, but it’s our acceptance to newcomers and multiculturalism that really take the cake, according to Resonance.
“The city’s natural attributes have always captured the world’s imagination and crystalized its hedonistic brand,” wrote Resonance. “But it’s Miami’s openness to immigrants (and, more recently, the LGBTQ+ community, and, even more recently than that, Silicon Valley migrants) that has people buzzing.”
We’re also home to one of the largest concentrations of international banks in the US, as well as one of North America’s largest hubs of Spanish-language media, outside of Mexico City, New York and L.A.
Resonance chooses cities with populations of over one million and bases their ranking on six core categories – place, programming, prosperity, product, people and promotion. Specifically in Miami, highlighted rankings include coming in at 60th for product and 20th for promotion (for being the planet’s 7th most Instagrammed city and 22nd most Googled).
It’s flattering to see that Miami is viewed as one of the world’s best cities — although we already knew that it is, of course. 😉
According to the rest of the report, the best 10 cities in the world include:
- London
- Paris
- New York
- Tokyo
- Dubai
- Barcelona
- Rome
- Madrid
- Singapore
- Amsterdam
