New data may very well have confirmed what we already know. South Florida’s major airports, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, were recently deemed some of the worst in the nation when it comes to flight delays and cancellations.
Online casino gaming platform, Jackpot City Casino, carried out a recent study evaluating 60 major U.S. airports on the average number of delayed and canceled flights, as well as the overall passenger satisfaction ratings.
Based on the results, Miami International Airport ranked as the 4th worst airport, with 27.8% of its departures experiencing delays. Despite this, only 1.6% of arrivals had been canceled. Notably, MIA broke its record last year by handling a whopping 52.3 million passengers. This marked an impressive increase of more than 3% over the previous year’s record.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport beat out Miami by coming in 3rd place, with 30.7% of departures being delayed. The results also list that 1.8% of arrival flights had been canceled.
San Francisco International Airport scored highest of all as the worst airport in the U.S., with 25.6% delayed departures and 2.8% arrival flight cancellations. This was followed by Chicago Midway Airport in 2nd place, with 21% delays and 3.2% cancellations.
