Mac’s Club Deuce is officially turning 100, and they’re taking the celebration to the streets with an epic block party right outside their doors!
Put on by the Washington Avenue BID, the birthday bash will go down on Saturday, September 5, from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. We’re talking over seven hours of great music, cold drinks and some old-fashioned Miami Beach energy, according to organizers.
“Come dressed to have a good time. Bring your friends. Bring your stories. Bring your love for one of the most legendary spots on Washington Avenue,” an Instagram post on the event reads.
Opening in 1926 (and official in 1933 after the repeal of Prohibition), Mac’s Club Deuce has outlived the city’s ever-changing landscape. When Mac Klein purchased it in 1964, he put his name on the front and cemented its status as one of South Beach’s most iconic watering holes, even beloved by the late Anthony Bourdain.
The dive bar made several appearances throughout the 1980s on Miami Vice, and it was during that time its famous neon signs were added to its interiors. Klein struck a deal with the production crew to leave them behind at the end of filming.
Today, the Deuce is the oldest original dive bar still standing in the area. Its 100-year anniversary block party in September will take place outside the bar at 222 14th St, Miami Beach.
