Art Basel is descending upon Miami Beach this week, and the city is once again bursting with creativity and all-new artworks to explore! Naturally, Lincoln Road is joining in on the excitement as two public art installations are set to grace the iconic pedestrian district in the coming months.
At the center of it all is “XO World” by contemporary abstract sculptor and painter Daniel Anderson. Standing at 12 feet tall and crafted from 20,000 pounds of stainless steel, the towering structure is inspired by the universal game of jacks. The “X” or “love jack” with crossed arms, embodies unity, love and peace. Meanwhile, the “O” is depicted by a globe, bringing humanity together as one.
The sculpture has debuted in partnership with the XO World Project Foundation, a nonprofit that carries out humanitarian projects addressing equal access to health care, water, food and economic empowerment for women. It marks Anderson’s first Art Week Miami Beach exhibit — and first overall in Florida — taking over the 400 block until June 2025.
Joining “XO World” by fluttering onto Lincoln Road this Art Week is “Dream Machine,” a butterfly wing sculpture by visual artist Rubem Robierb, whose wings stretch more than 10 feet wide. Doubling as the perfect Instagram-worthy selfie and embodying the materialization of our innermost wishes, the piece invites viewers to place themselves between the wings and imagine their dreams taking flight.
The sculpture made its first appearance on the Celebrity Edge cruise before making its way to NYC’s Tribeca Park. It will now be displayed on the 900 block of Lincoln Road through April 2025.
Both sculptures are currently on view, so you can head on over and admire these glorious artworks in all their glory! Be sure to plan your visit to each one, in addition to any of the 15+ art galleries dotting Lincoln Road, including permanent and pop-up locations. Find more information here.
