There’s no better time than now to visit Miami Design District as it plays host to J’OUVERT by Zak Ové, marking the British-Trinidadian artist’s first solo presentation in the city. The exhibit has transformed Jungle Plaza into an outdoor gallery, exploring themes of ritual, diaspora and collective identity through two monumental works.
At the center of it all is The Mothership Connection (2022), a nearly 30-foot totemic sculpture blending traditional African iconography with Afrofuturist forms. Surrounding it are 40 graphite figures in a circle, titled Invisible Man and the Masque of Blackness (2016), asserting presence and dignity in public space.

You can explore and wander these free artworks through Monday, February 9. Accompanying the exhibition is free programming at Jungle Plaza, including workshops, music and artist talks:
- January 24: Guided Public Art Tour (at Palm Court)
- January 25: Soca Sundays Dance Class for All Levels
