As summer travel season heats up, JetBlue has announced its largest-ever flight schedule at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, bumping daily flights up by 75% compared to last year.
Following the void left by the sudden shutdown of Spirit Airlines in May, the New York-based carrier is working on operating more than 150 daily flights by the end of the year. It is also hiring across multiple departments, specifically recruiting former Spirit crew members, as reported by WPLG Local 10.
Where JetBlue is flying to next
JetBlue is rolling out new nonstop routes out of Fort Lauderdale that include Baltimore, Charlotte, Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago, Indianapolis, San Diego and Columbus, with international routes to Cali and Barranquilla (Colombia), plus Ponce (Puerto Rico) and Caracas (Venezuela), with a date still to be confirmed.
Eight of them have just taken off, with the rest rolling out in time for fall and winter travel. And with nearly 130 daily flights this summer, the airline is expecting to operate 150 by the wintertime.
Coast-to-coast upgrades
If you prefer flying upfront, JetBlue is also expanding its Mint seats at FLL. Beginning November 19, the airline is launching daily Mint service to San Diego, marking the only lie-flat seat product offered on that specific route.
JetBlue also noted that additional Mint flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco are slated for this winter, giving travelers another premium option to cross the country comfortably.
