If you’re looking to indulge this Father’s Day weekend, you’re in luck: the Island SPACE Mango Festival is back and ready to satiate your hunger with Caribbean cuisine and all things mango!
Hosted by the world’s only all-Caribbean history museum, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum, the third annual festival will take to Pembroke Pines’ Charles F. Dodge City Center for one of South Florida’s sweetest family outings.
While snacking on delicious fruits is a given, the event allows attendees to immerse themselves in the culture with an array of artisan vendors, mango-growing and grafting workshops, live music, steelpan performances and dance showcases. So, get ready to party!
There’s a Mango Walk featuring dozens of exotic varieties on display before select mangos are auctioned off live, as well as on-site cooking demos by notable Caribbean chefs like Chef Winston Williams of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Chef Irie of Jamaica, Chef Thia of Haiti from Taste the Islands on PBS and Chef Guillermo representing Cuba.
For an additional cost, lovers of the King of Fruit can enjoy a guided tasting flight where a “mango sommelier” takes them through the flavor profiles, textures and aromas of rare mangos from across the Caribbean and beyond.
And at the center of it all is Daddy’s Kingdom, a premium Father’s Day lounge designed specifically for dads and father figures. It features throne-style photo ops, games, giveaways and pampering experiences.
Additionally, dads can take center stage at the Daddy Mango Eating Competition and enjoy soccer-themed moments on the main stage throughout the afternoon, ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
