Miami is full of avid runners and it’s easy to see why, with so many beautiful parks and beach trails perfect for working out. Plenty of races take place each year, too, with one leaning fully into the absurd and asking participants to embrace their inner “Florida Man” or “Florida Woman.”
The inaugural Iguana Man 5K Run, taking place on June 6th, will offer scenic views of Key Biscayne while competitive runners and casual walkers alike don their best iguana costumes.
Seriously, organizers are challenging attendees to get creative and throw on their most outrageous costumes to show off Florida’s wild side before hitting the trail. Expect to see plenty of green spandex, scaly tails and maybe a few homemade iguana heads bobbing along Crandon Park!
The unique 5k is designed to be a light-hearted community race, with the winner being crowned the first-ever 305 Iguana Man (or Woman). Sign ups are $30, which gets you an official T-shirt and a finisher medal.
Trophies and medals will be handed out to the overall Top 3 (Male/Female), Top Masters (Male/Female) and Top 3 across all standard 5-year age groups (from the 10 & Under category all the way to the 75+ legends). All skill levels are welcome to join.
