Miami is known for its diverse population, with just about every nationality on Earth residing here. But no matter where you come from, there are tried and true Miamians who have seen many a hurricanes and construction on the Palmetto, but there’s also newbies whose words and actions might seem out of place. While more and more people decide to flock to the city, we decided to ask our audience of locals, “What’s the biggest giveaway that someone’s NOT from Miami?” and their answers did not disappoint.

If you’re looking to pinpoint if someone is not from Miami, here are some pretty good indicators according to our audience!

1. They use their turn signals.

2. They buy their mangos at the grocery store.

3. They show up on time.

4. They call it Route 1.

5. They don’t know what Kendall, Weston or Plantation are.
