In just a few hours, we’ll be welcoming in the new year. And while there’s so many resolutions to set and events to look forward to in 2025, many of Florida’s state parks will hold free First Day Hikes on January 1st.
There’s more than 100 guided hikes for Floridians to take part in on New Year’s Day, and while these events are entirely free, you may need to register ahead of time. So lace up your comfiest walking shoes, grab your favorite water bottle and get ready to take in the scenery!
What are First Day Hikes?
First Day Hikes is a national event led by America’s State Parks that encourages everyone to welcome in the new year with a relaxing outdoor walk. This experience ranges from short strolls to longer treks and are led by a seasoned guide. And did we mention that participation is free?
The concept first originated in Massachusetts in 1992 and we’re happy to see that the tradition has been adopted across all 50 states, including our very own Sunshine State!
