South Floridians will soon have more options for traveling to and from the Keys, as Spirit Airlines has announced that it will launch new service between Key West and Fort Lauderdale this year. It would become the only carrier to offer nonstop flights between the two cities.
The 50-minute trips, operating to and from Key West International Airport (EYW), will start being offered on November 6th. Flights will run four times per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, before transitioning to daily flights on December 18th.

“Key West is a one-of-a-kind beach destination, and now travelers can easily access this island paradise and enjoy Spirit’s elevated Guest experience along the way,” shared Spirit Vice President of Network Planning John Kirby in a press release. “Our new service offers a convenient and affordable alternative to driving and gives our Guests in the Florida Keys a new way to coast through South Florida in style.”
Key West is set to become Spirit’s eighth Florida market, joining Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Miami (MIA), West Palm Beach (PBI), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), Pensacola (PNS) and Tampa (TPA). The airline also said that it is aiming to connect the southernmost Florida destination to cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York City and Philadelphia.

In celebration of the upcoming service, the airline is offering unbeatable prices with $79 one-way fares, as long as they’re booked by November 19th. The deal would be available for travel from November 6 through December 17, with blackout dates from November 20 through December 2.
