Architectural Digest has once again unveiled its annual list of “The Most Beautiful Streets in the World,” and two in South Florida made the ranking — Miami Beach and West Palm Beach! There’s a total of 71 streets featured on the list by the renowned magazine, with international locations as far as Argentina, South Africa and China.
With the astounding natural beauty found in the Sunshine State, there are many that could have made the cut, ranging from the tree-lined roads of Micanopy to Key West’s bustling Duval Street. But to our surprise, Miami Beach’s popular tourist-filled street made the list at No. 38. Can you guess which one? Running just 15 blocks and famously featured in films like Scarface and Miami Vice — you guessed it — it’s Ocean Drive.

The magazine highlights the dazzling display of pastel-colored buildings and a history “that makes the colorful street even more appealing to visitors (and even locals too)” as notable features of the street.

“It all started with entrepreneur Carl Fisher, who brought the neighborhood’s first luxury hotel and the iconic Lincoln Road shopping district to South Beach in the early 20th century,” AD wrote. “Shortly thereafter came more boutique hotels, including The Colony Hotel, Clevelander South Beach Hotel and Bar, and the Roy F. France–designed Cavalier South Beach Hotel… and today all of these hotels are still operating on Ocean Drive.”
In addition to the street many might refer to as iconic while others think of it as strictly for tourists, AD’s list also highlights a landmark destination in Palm Beach, which comes at No. 65: Worth Avenue. Known for its luxury boutiques and stunning architecture designed by Addison Mizner, the most interesting parts of the strip are its vias — hidden passageways — that can be explored.

We’re surprised Florida appeared twice on the coveted list, especially among some absolute bucket list destinations we’re thinking of traveling to. Here are the top 10 most beautiful streets in the world, according to AD:
- Old Town, Colmar, France
- Brunngasse, Brienz, Switzerland
- Calle Cuevas del Sol, Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain
- Streets of Águeda, Águeda, in Portugal
- Washington Street, Brooklyn, New York, USA
- Rua do Bom Jesus, Recife, Brazil
- Rue de l’Abreuvoir, Paris, France
- Streets of Mykonos, Greece
- Streets of Pretoria, South Africa
- Rue du Petit Champlain, Quebec City, Canada
