VAMOS GATOS! A victory parade is slated to run down Fort Lauderdale this weekend, as the Florida Panthers celebrate their first championship in 30 seasons. The team won its first Stanley Cup Monday night, sealing the deal with a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers, so an epic celebratory lap is definitely in order.
When is the Panthers’ championship parade?
The parade is scheduled to take place the weekend following the historic win, running along A1A. The Florida Panthers and City of Fort Lauderdale officials have announced that it will officially be held this Sunday, June 30, beginning at 11 a.m.
The Panthers’ parade route
The parade route will begin at A1A and Riomar Street, extending down A1A before concluding at SE 5th Street, just north of Fort Lauderdale Beach Park. A formal rally will then take place on stage across from Hotel Maren. The entire team is expected to ride in the parade, waving to fans and hoisting the massive silver trophy for all of the city to see.
Parking for the championship parade
There are multiple parking options, although organizers say carpooling, taking a rideshare service or water taxi are strongly encouraged. Broward County Transit services will be free in honor of the Panthers’ win. Broward bus routes 11, 36 and 40 will get you to the parade.
