We hope you’re hungry because an incredible, one-day food festival packed with the city’s top BIPOC chefs is arriving this weekend! And behind it all is none other than Dwyane Wade, who will be teaming up with Frito-Lay to debut the When We Gather Food & Wine Festival to Overtown.
In celebration of his bronze statue being unveiled Sunday at the Miami Heat arena, the 21+ inaugural event will be hosted by his California-based wine company, Wade Cellars. On Saturday, October 26, foodies from all over the city will be welcomed to The Urban, located at 1000 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33136. You can expect to savor delicious dishes and stellar wines from Wade Cellars’ portfolio, in addition to the Frito-Lay snacks we all know and love.
In addition to the bites and sips, there will also be dynamic brand activations and other tasty surprises. The culinary creators bringing the flavors to the festival include:
- Chef Richard Ingraham (Wade’s personal chef)
- Akino West (Red Rooster Overtown)
- Eileen Andrade (Amelia’s 1931 and Finka Table & Tap)
- Giorgio Rapicavoli (Luca Osteria, Eating House and Mayfair Grill)
- Andrew Gonzalez (Night Owl Cookies)
- Diego Ng and Alex Kuk (Temple Street Eatery)
- Derrick “Chef Teach” Turton (World Famous House of Mac)
“I’m excited to share this will be the first food and wine festival to launch under my When We Gather series and I’m looking forward to bringing this new and special experience to the Miami community,” Wade said in a statement. “Coinciding with my Miami Heat statue unveiling weekend, the festival will be a celebration of community, culture, and culinary excellence.”
The When We Gather Food & Wine Festival will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on October 26. Visit their website to learn more about the event and tickets. Attendees need to be 21 and older.
