It’s not every day a new theme park opens, so Universal Orlando had to welcome its newest addition with a historic celebration packed with grand fireworks and a fountain show!
Epic Universe, which officially opened to the public on Thursday, is the first major new theme park in Orlando in over two decades. It boasts five imaginative worlds to transport guests into: Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon Isle of Berk and Dark Universe.
Thousands of visitors gathered as early as 6 a.m. on opening day for the once-in-a-lifetime sight. At around 8 a.m., the park officially opened with spellbinding character appearances at each of the world’s portals and skies lit up in a breathtaking display of fireworks.

A group of drones swarmed together to spell out “EPIC” at the park.
Several stars made an appearance, from the cast of the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon to actors from the Harry Potter franchise. There was also a special celebratory moment narrated by Director Steven Spielberg.
Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, was also present to see Super Nintendo World for himself.
It’s safe to say the arrival of Epic Universe is, well, epic. Park hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, visit Universal Orlando’s official website.
