While other cities might have the advantage of cozier weather and snow, we have to make do with what we have in South Florida. But what if we told you it was possible to ice skate outdoors this year?
Sure, an outdoor rink made of real ice may seem far-fetched — especially when our daily temperatures call for the beach instead — but we already know about The Ben Hotel’s returning winter rink, which features aluminum coils that keep the ice consistently frozen.
Using similar technology, the City of Homestead is also making the impossible possible with an outdoor rink of its own! As part of its “Discover Homestead: Winter Wonderland” celebration, a skating rink featuring actual ice has been set up at Losner Park, transforming it into the perfect wintery playground.
❄️ How exactly does it work?
Powered by Ice-America, the rink’s aluminum floor system quickly adjusts to sudden temperature spikes while maintaining real ice, even in temperatures up to 90 degrees!

❄️ What to expect
Visitors are invited to lace up their skates and soak up the merry atmosphere, marking the perfect opportunity for families and friends to make some magical memories.
Surrounded by shimmering lights, the impressive 80 ft x 40 ft rink will be open on Tuesdays through Sundays, so you’ll need to plan ahead. Further details on operating hours and admission can be found on DiscoverHomestead.com.

Additionally, Winter Wonderland has a sleigh-load of fun planned for the season: food vendors, a grand bazaar, musical performances at the historic theater, a Whoville Experience, seasonal treats and much more!
When: Now through January 18, 2026
Where: Losner Park, 104 N Krome Ave, Homestead, FL 33030
The experience is free to visit, but skating will require a ticket. Sessions on the ice run for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
