Nothing spreads happiness like a new addition to the family. If you’ve been on the fence about adopting a new pet recently, now is the time to make the leap!
For one day only, Miami-Dade County Animal Services is holding a “Clear The Shelters” adoption event at 3599 NW 79th Avenue this Saturday, August 27. Potential pet parents are free to visit the Doral adoption center from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The shelter is currently caring for over 500 dogs and cats.
If you happen to stumble upon an adorable dog or cat that you’d want to take home, adoption fees will be waived for pets 4 months and older. Typically, dogs more than 4 months carry a $65 adoption fee while cats and kittens carry a $35 adoption fee.
You’d be responsible for tag fees, however, which cost $30 a year. And it is a celebration, after all, so you can expect the event to have music, giveaways, food trucks, games and more.
Before you head over to the adoption center, be sure not to leave your house without the following items:
- A copy of your driver license or valid state picture ID
- Proof of current address
- A collar and leash for a dog or puppy
And remember to only adopt if you’re committed to giving your new best friend and fur-ever home! Due to the high number of dogs and cats in need of homes, the shelter is asking that the community avoid surrendering pets and foster friendly lost pets until a forever home is found.
If you can’t make it to this event, the shelter is still in need of adopters and fosters. There’s still a high number of dogs and cats in need to the point where the county is asking the pet-loving community to adopt or foster a shelter pet today. Click here to learn more.
