If you’re anything like me, you’ve passed by the empty Coconut Grove restaurant-front announcing that the popular Mexican eatery is coming to the neighborhood this summer, time and time again. And you’ve anxiously waited for an official date.
Bodega Taqueria Y Tequila currently has 4 locations — South Beach, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. But on August 25, that will change. The restaurant will finally open its doors to its newest location on Thursday and it will feature an exciting three-part experience: A fast-casual taco shack, speakeasy-style lounge and an upstairs high-end mezcaleria designed for exclusive tasting experiences.
Let’s take a peek inside before it officially opens…
Once you enter the 3,276 square-foot space, you’ll instantly be greeted by the taco shack — the airstream trailer-turned-taco-truck you’ve come to know and love. In addition to their delicious menu, you can look forward to “Margarita Monday” for $5 Frozen Margaritas all day on Mondays, and the “Taco Tuesday” special on Tuesdays until 5 p.m. for $11 Classic Tacos.
Now, everyone loves a good secret and an even better time. If you’re interested in finding the speakeasy, make your way past the shack through a graffiti-lined hallway, by legendary local artist MSG. The entrance to the hidden space is through a port-a-potty door.
It will be open daily from 4 p.m. and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy signature cocktails and tons of specials. Continuing the “Margarita Monday” tradition, there will be $5 draft margaritas and $13 Build your own margaritas, all night. On Thursdays, you can come in for “Thursdays on Tap” and enjoy $1 select rotating Draft Beer until the keg is tapped. And on Saturdays and Sundays, there’s “Liquid Weekend Brunch,” featuring large format cocktails, beer buckets and Mexican-inspired mimosas starting at 12 p.m.
It also wouldn’t be Bodega if there isn’t any nightly programming for a guaranteed great time. On Wednesdays, it’s the brand’s iconic “Live Music Wednesdays” showcasing local musical performances by rotating bands from 7 to 9 p.m.
But it doesn’t end there. There’s a mezcaleria on the second floor of the restaurant, designed to serve high-end mezcal and tequila and offer exclusive tasting experiences in an intimate, authentic Mexican space. The mezcaleria will be open from Wednesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to close, with certain nights featuring live musical performances by rotating one-man bands. To reserve exclusive experiences at the mezcaleria, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila is encouraging all guests to make reservations on their website.
