It’s been four years in the making, but Biscayne Bay Brewing has officially opened in downtown Miami! And as the first brewery in the neighborhood, you can expect a whole lot more than just freshly brewed beers like games, live music and food offerings that pair perfectly with your ale!
If the name sounds familiar to you, it’s because the Miami-based brewery has solidified itself as the official independent brewery of the Miami Heat and the official craft beer of the Marlins.
Founders Jose Mallea and Nick Bonfiglio set up shop at the former U.S. Post Office, which was designed by architects Kiehnel and Elliott, along with Oscar Wenderoth, and served as “Miami’s first brick and mortar post office” before being granted historical landmark status in 1989. The new flagship occupies the third floor of the building, with once housed The Miami Weather Bureau Office.
“When we discovered the one-of-a-kind opportunity to revitalize the historic and inspiring Old Post Office Building, we knew we had to seize it. Miami deserves quality craft beer in a quality crafted space,” Mallea said in a release.
At the wrap-around bar, guests can choose from a dozen beers on tap, including their renowned Tropical Bay IPA, The Miami Pale Ale, Regatta Double IPA, Colada Porter and The Marlins Lager, along with a rotating lineup of seasonal and guest brews.
On the food front, there’s shareable items such as a charcuterie board, Mediterranean dips, wagyu picanha crostini, four cheese flatbread and more. Heartier options include the mouthwatering Colorado wagyu burger, fresh tuna salad sandwich, bao buns and G1 angus ribeye, among others.
The space is decked in hues of greens, beige and wood, as well as booths and intimate tables throughout. For those seeking further entertainment, there’s a pool table, foosball and game machine in addition to 12 TVs for sports-watching and live music to top it off.
“The opening of our flagship location is a dream come true, as Miami locals and one of the only independent owned breweries, we are proud to be a part of Downtown Miami’s revival and give our community the first brewery and taproom in the area,” Bonfiglio said.
