At the heart of Miami’s iconic Wynwood district, The Art of Hip Hop celebrates the visual artists that made hip hop’s history. Through a rich collection of photographs, designs, installations and street art, the institution highlights pioneers in the space — offering an inside perspective at some of your favorite tunes, album covers, videos and more.
The Art of Hip Hop features rotating exhibitions year-round, as well as workshops, classes and immersive installations. Check out how the museum honors the legacy of hip hop culture this winter:

Fall events & exhibits at The Art of Hip Hop
Slawn & Opake’s “Heroes, Villains, & Violence”
This season, Heroes, Villains & Violence makes The Art of Hip Hop its home — and you don’t want to miss the incredible collab. Slawn and Opake came together to craft more than just an exhibition: it’s an exploration of past struggles with addiction and violence, reframed through the lens of boxing and pop iconography.
Through this exhibition, the two artists capture the “fight” to remain on the path of ‘success’ according to their families, exposing “a highly-personal, shared dream to be real life superheroes despite their own histories as self-perceived villains during young adulthoods.” Heroes, Villains & Violence closes on December 31st, so hurry to secure your spot & don’t miss 4 hand-signed prints and limited apparel available on the Art of Hip Hop website.

The Smithsonian’s “EYEJAMMIE” photo collection
Back in the eighties, Bill Adler (then director of publicity at Def Jam Recordings) collaborated with talented photographers to document the rise of hip-hop. In 2003, Adler created the Eyejammie Fine Arts Gallery — an photo gallery devoted to hip-hop photography. And 15 years after the closing of said gallery, The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture acquired 400 photo prints by 59 different photographers.

It’s these incredible photographs you’ll find at The Art of Hip Hop, during an interactive exhibit that hopes to “teach the next generation about history the way they want to learn it — in an environment that authentically conveys important cultural information that also looks cool on their TikTok page” (Allison Freidin, co-founder of The Art of Hip Hop.)
Prepare to see legendary images, including portraits of hip-hop moguls Sylvia Robinson, Run-DMC, Flavor Flav, T.I., Pitbull, Biggie Smalls, and Snoop Dogg to name a few. Book your visit to The Art of Hip Hop to check out the exhibit.
