Superblue Miami is known for its striking and surprising installations, and the newest addition to the art center is no exception. Now open to the public, Alone Together implements light and technology to produce a thought-provoking and visually compelling exhibit.
The ever-evolving installation explores the relationship between isolation and connection, algorithmically surveying the space and directing its light beams on viewers. As you step into the room, you’ll join a dynamic display of light and space as both an observer and a participant.
Alone Together explores a fundamental contradiction of the human experience
Aptly titled Alone Together, the experiential installation sheds light on an “innate contradiction” of the human experience, particularly as our technological landscape grows more complex.
The new exhibit is brought to life by the postdigital art group Random International. The art group is recognized globally for its expansive, interactive installations and experimental projects that explore the relationship between humans and their environment.
Random International explains that “the urge to feel seen is part of being human, and so is the anxiety that comes with that visibility.” Through Alone Together’s shifting light beams, one may feel vulnerable, empowered, or, more likely, a mixture of the two emotions. The group is eager to share “a moment of reflection and engagement for visitors in Miami.”
